Bennettsbridge

Kells

Kells is a village, situated on high ground to the south of the Kings River. Kells Augustinian Priory is one of the best preserved in Ireland, it is a National Monument and a must see. In Kells you will also find a Celtic cross that dates from the 9th century at the burial site of Niall Caille, High King of Ireland. You can wander around the ruin which has a church, a chapel, prior’s residence or sacristy and several domestic buildings, a magically feature in any small production.

Callan

Callan is a vibrant market town and the largest town in County Kilkenny. There is great history in the name of the town, Callan in Irish is Callainn. This comes from the high king of Ireland Niall Caille who was drowned while trying to ford the river with his army in the area. The town has historical landmarks such as its Abbey, Churches, Town Hall, Workhouse and Edmund Rice Heritage Centre, great for any film back drop.

Thomastown

Thomastown was historically known as ‘Grennan’ and is a market town along a stretch of the River Nore. It is home to Jerpoint Park, Jerpoint Abbey, Kilfane Waterfall and Glen, and Mount Juliet Estate.
