Sustainable Filmmaking

Screen Kilkenny is committed to improving sustainability within our local film industry, encouraging more sustainable filmmaking practices with a key focus on ‘Green’ and ‘low carbon’ technologies as well as environmental, economic and social impact. Screen Kilkenny is committed to working towards achieving Ireland’s sustainable development goals.


When filming in Ireland, Screen Kilkenny recommend hiring a Location Manager who is a member of the Locations Guild of Ireland who will assist with finding a suitable location, coordinate the logistics, assist with the key requirements and provide local information.

A Film Permit is required to film in a public space in County Kilkenny. 

A Film Application Form must be completed and submitted to Screen Kilkenny ten (10) weeks in advance of filming. The Film Application Form will be circulated to the relevant personnel in Kilkenny County Council for assessment.

Location Managment
